Chore Chart for Multiple Kids

'Guess Who'

memo board

Supplies: picture frame - whatever size you want, fabric (something that isn't too dark or busy so you can see your writing over it), transparency sheets,

1.) Paint picture frame if desired. You can also decorate the frame if you want too. I added some lace and a rosette to fancy mine up a bit.

2.) Take out cardboard insert from frame. Cut out your fabric a couple inches larger (on all sides) than the piece of cardboard. Iron fabric.

3.) Place cardboard on wrong side of fabric. Fold fabric over cardboard and tape down on back.
4.) If you want to add a calendar or babysitter info sheet, all you need to do is print it out on a transparency sheet. Make sure to print it on the rough side of the transparency sheet. Put this sheet in between the fabric covered cardboard and the picture frame's glass.

5.) Insert cardboard, with fabric now attached, in frame. Close frame. You're done! Easy, huh?

6.) Now you can use a dry erase marker to write on the frame's glass. You can even put a sticky back piece of velcro on the dry erase marker and the other piece on the top of the frame...so you never lose your pen!

grocery bag

You'll Need:

  • If you want your holder all one color - 1 piece of fabric, 20 x 25 inches. If you want strips like pictured here, you'll need 9 pieces of fabric, 20 x 3 1/2 inches.
  • 2 pieces of narrow elastic (1/4 wide or smaller). 11 inches and 6 1/2inches.
  • 1 piece of ribbon - 14 inches long.
  • Thread
If you're using strips, sew all of them together along their long sides (1/4 inch seams). Iron all of the seams open.

Then, make a casing for your elastic at each end. Turn over the fabric about an 1/4 of an inch and then fold it over again about 1/3 of an inch. Sew really close to the fold so that your 1/4 inch elastic can still fit. Do this to both ends.

Now, thread your elastic through each end and sew each end of the elastic securely to the opening of each end of the casing. Keep in mind, the larger piece of elastic is for the top of your holder (so you can shove many bags in) and the smaller piece of elastic is for the bottom (so that you only pull one bag out at a time).

Next, turn the holder right side out and pin the ribbon (I turned the end under once) into place, about 3/4 of an inch from the top. Sew the ribbon into place several times, making it secure.

Lastly, sew the 2 long sides together, with right sides together.

Lettering

Sense most of my time is spent counting down the days till I get to hold my baby girl and the other part of my time is spent making cute things to decorate her room this is another blog about little miss X.

I went to Joanns Fabric store and got wooden letters. Mine are about 12 inches tall ($2 each)
Then I had my paint. Im doing her room in pink and green so I painted every other one. Then I thought they were to plain so I dressed them up a little by adding some "bling". So I used my hot glue gun and put little jewels on each of them.
To hand it up I took some ribbon and stables it to the back of each letter and tied a bow at the top then had my handy husband hammer up the nails and we hung them up! I love it!
This is her room so far! I will blog about the adorable quilt (my first sewing project) in the next post that I make.
It cost a total of $20. I splurged on the ribbon and bought like 18yards of it so I could use it for other projects!

$10 butterfly moble

Sense I don't have much to do and I don't feel like cleaning I have been doing crafts!
I saw this craft about 2 months ago and saved the picture so I could remember it and now cant find the original post but I winged it and I like how it turned out! I decided that I would not buy cute things for my little girls room that if I wanted it to look cute I had to do everything by hand or on clearance. So far so good and I feel crafty!

So I tried to make it and I love it! Here is my simple version!
The finished project!!

You will need:

  • Embroidery Hoop thebroidery hoop: I got at Michales for 1.19 (only the solid hoop is needed; the hoop I used is about 14in in diameter)
  • Twine / String
  • Ribbon (1/2 inch or so width)
  • Ribbon (thin)
  • Beads- found @ Michaels for 2.00 each (make sure the hole is big enough to fit thin ribbon through)
  • Card stock Paper (I used 3 colors)
  • Butterfly Template or punch I found a picture online & printed it out then cut each one. I did 36 total (I wanted my butterflies to be about 3 inches wide)
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Ribbon Punch (optional – is a tool used for scrapbooking that punches out two slits for ribbons to feed through)
first step:

1.Take the thread of any color and the hoop and make a grid. 3 across each way as picture(2) above.
2.take your ribbon & wrap it around the hoop(4). I hot glued the ribbon as I went to make sure it stayed.
after the ribbon is all wrapped around the thread should be a little tighter.
3.Once the grid is done you need to take the butterfly's and make 2 slits in the middle of them just wide enough for the thin ribbon to feed through. You want a tight fit so that the butterflies stay put on the ribbons.

(4) Start assembling the butterflies on the thin ribbon, For the chandelier look I did a longer string in the middle and gradually have shorter strand toward the outside. I did for 4 butterflies on my center strand (tied to the middle point of the grid). Then I had 4 strands of 3 butterflies, 4 strands of 2 butterflies, and 12 strands of 1 butterfly. The original post did beads hanging from the bottom of the ribbon but I hung them individually. As a hint, find someplace to balance the hoop like between 2 chairs so you can look at the strands as you attach them to the grid. That way, you can play with the length you want.

(5) I did not think it was shiny enough so I got some glue on sparkles and put them on each butterfly.

Now its finished!

if it does not make sense let me know! have fun!
